Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

VUE Vision Therapy (“VUE,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of our patients, families, website visitors, and others who communicate with us.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, protect, and manage personal information through our website and related online services.

Because VUE is an Ontario health-care practice, personal health information that we collect in connection with providing health care is handled in accordance with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (“PHIPA”). Other personal information may also be subject to applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”), where applicable.

  • appointment and scheduling information;
  • information you choose to provide about vision, learning, symptoms, medical history, or health concerns; and
  • the contents of communications you send to us.

Please provide only the information reasonably necessary for us to respond to your request.

Information collected automatically

When you use our website, certain technical information may be collected automatically by our website, hosting provider, or permitted analytics technologies. This may include:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address;
  • browser and device information;
  • operating system;
  • pages viewed;
  • referring website;
  • approximate geographic information;
  • date and time of visits; and
  • interactions with pages or website features.

We may use cookies and similar technologies as described below.

How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • respond to questions or requests;
  • schedule and manage appointments;
  • communicate with patients, parents, guardians, and prospective patients;
  • provide and administer health-care services;
  • maintain appropriate patient and business records;
  • operate, secure, maintain, and improve our website;
  • understand how visitors use our website;
  • measure the effectiveness of our communications and advertising, where permitted and subject to appropriate consent;
  • prevent fraud, misuse, or security incidents;
  • meet professional, legal, regulatory, and record-keeping obligations; and
  • carry out other purposes that we identify when information is collected or that are permitted or required by law.

We limit the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information to purposes that are reasonably necessary and appropriate in the circumstances.

Personal Health Information

Information about an identifiable individual’s health, symptoms, assessment, treatment, or receipt of health care may constitute personal health information.

When VUE has custody or control of personal health information in connection with providing health care, we handle that information in accordance with PHIPA and our professional obligations.

Access to personal health information is limited to people who require it for an authorized purpose.

This website and its scheduling tools are not intended for medical emergencies. If you require urgent medical attention, use an appropriate emergency health service rather than sending sensitive information through the website.

Children and Parents or Guardians

VUE primarily provides services to children and young people. In many cases, a parent or legal guardian communicates with us and provides information on a child’s behalf.

We take the sensitivity of children’s personal and health information into account when determining how information is collected, used, disclosed, and protected.

We do not knowingly use children’s health information to create behavioural advertising or retargeting audiences.

Scheduling Through Calendly

VUE uses Calendly to provide online scheduling functionality.

When you use a Calendly scheduling interface, information you provide through that interface is processed using Calendly’s services. This may include your name, contact information, appointment information, and information you provide in response to scheduling questions.

Calendly has its own privacy practices and acts as a service provider in connection with scheduling services provided on behalf of its customers.

We encourage you not to enter unnecessary sensitive health information into free-text scheduling fields.

Website Hosting and Service Providers

We use service providers to operate and support our website and business.

These may include providers that supply:

  • website hosting and infrastructure;
  • appointment scheduling;
  • mapping services;
  • analytics;
  • advertising measurement;
  • security and technical services; and
  • communications and administrative services.

For example, our website is hosted using Kinsta infrastructure and may integrate services provided by Calendly, Google, and Meta.

Service providers receive information only for purposes connected with the services they provide or as otherwise permitted by law and their applicable agreements.

Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising Technologies

Our website may use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies for purposes such as:

  • enabling website functionality;
  • maintaining security;
  • understanding website usage;
  • measuring website performance;
  • measuring advertising effectiveness; and
  • remembering privacy or consent choices.

Where required, optional analytics or advertising technologies will be used only after the appropriate privacy choice or consent has been obtained.

Our analytics and advertising providers may include Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Meta.

We do not intentionally provide these advertising or analytics services with patient medical records or information entered into clinical records.

We do not create advertising audiences intended to infer or target an individual based on a health condition disclosed to VUE.

You may be able to control optional cookies and tracking technologies through the privacy choices presented on our website and through your browser or device settings.

Google Maps

Our website may display maps or location information using Google Maps.

When you interact with an embedded Google service, Google may receive technical information about your device and interaction with that service in accordance with Google’s own privacy practices.

Disclosure of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may disclose personal information:

  • to service providers working on our behalf;
  • to health-care providers or others involved in care where authorized or permitted by law;
  • where you direct or consent to the disclosure;
  • where required to comply with professional or legal obligations;
  • where reasonably necessary to protect patients, VUE, or others; or
  • where otherwise permitted or required by law.

Personal health information is subject to the additional requirements and protections of PHIPA where applicable.

Information Processed Outside Canada

Some of the technology providers we use may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States or other jurisdictions.

When information is processed outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is processed, including lawful-access requirements applicable in that jurisdiction.

VUE remains responsible for taking reasonable steps to select and manage service providers appropriately for the information they process on our behalf.

Safeguarding Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we handle.

These safeguards are intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, loss, copying, or disposal.

No Internet-based service or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, professional, clinical, and record-retention obligations.

Retention periods may therefore differ depending on the type of information involved.

When information is no longer required, it is securely deleted, destroyed, or de-identified as appropriate and subject to applicable record-retention requirements.

Accessing or Correcting Your Information

You may ask to access personal information or personal health information that VUE holds about you, or request correction of information that you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.

Certain legal exceptions may apply.

To make an access or correction request, contact VUE using the information below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

For information concerning a child or another person, we may also need to confirm that you have the legal authority to make the request on that person’s behalf.

Withdrawing Consent

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw that consent subject to applicable legal, professional, contractual, or record-keeping requirements.

Withdrawal of consent may affect our ability to provide a particular service where the information is reasonably necessary for that service.
